Village adds Two Community Builders to Alberta Craft Beer Industry

Village adds Two Community Builders to Alberta Craft Beer Industry

Since our first kegs were sold on December 21, 2011 we have proudly worked with over 2000 festivals, civic engagements and community initiatives. From day one we had a commitment to give back 10% of our bottom line to the community, and to date we have provided over $850,000.

On December 21st Village Brewery will be celebrating the 9th Anniversary of the first beer sold out of the brewery. This means we are going into our tenth year of business and we have very exciting plans for growth and continued community investment. To kick off the adventure and to build momentum we are proud to announce that we have two exceptional hires to announce. Jeff Popiel will be in the role of President and Fraser Abbott will be our VP Marketing, they will both be starting December 1st.

Jeff Popiel – President
Jeff joins Village Brewery with a proven track record of success as a transformational business leader across multiple industries.  As an award-winning entrepreneur, his diverse and strategic skillsets combine with his passion for community building and arts & culture, to make him a perfect fit to help lead Village Brewery into an exciting new future.  In particular, Jeff’s experience in consumer package goods, in branding and in building strategic partnerships will be invaluable as Village embarks on our second decade with aggressive plans for growth.

“I’m thrilled with the opportunity to join Village Brewery, a Calgary born-and-raised entrepreneurial success story and a pioneer in our city’s craft beer industry. It’s truly inspiring to envision the next decade for an organization that has a foundation of community building, has flourished as a thriving enterprise and has grown to become one of Calgary most endeared brands.”

Fraser Abbott – Vice President, Marketing and Community
Fraser joins Village Brewery with extensive sales, marketing and community engagement experience from his years working with the Hotel Arts Group. With over 30 years working in tourism and hospitality, Fraser excels in the people business where E.Q. is in high demand.  He brings a broad skillset of talents and experiences with respect to branding, customer service, culture, collaborating with stakeholders, spearheading local initiatives and events and more.

“I’m excited to be part of Village Brewery’s second decade building community over beer.  Village has a celebrated past as a thriving local enterprise that leverages its products and networks to bring people together. Today, now more than ever, relationships matter and we need to knit this community together for a better tomorrow.”

There are many big plans in our future, we cannot wait to share them with you all. In the meantime, please raise a toast to Fraser and Jeff.
