BANC Unbuttoned Concert Fundraiser

BANC Unbuttoned Concert Fundraiser

Fighting cancer isn’t fun for anyone – for kids, it can be especially brutal.  Thankfully, we can help.

You’re invited to attend an amazing free concert being performed by BANC at Hotel Arts on Wednesday, October 23rd to help raise funds to establish a research Chair for Pediatric Psychosocial Oncology and Survivorship at the University of Calgary’s Cumming School of Medicine.  This is in support of the goal of an iconic Calgarian, creative entrepreneur, co-founder of Village Brewery, philanthropist, entertainer, and cancer patient looking to build a legacy of support, Jim Button and his wife Tracey.

This chair will help kids during and after their cancer treatments, supporting them and their families with leading research in mental health strategies as they build happier and healthier lives.

BANC is a charity-focused band of world-class singers and musicians led by local philanthropist Jim Carter that has raised over $3.3M over the last four years through its charity concerts and live auction events. BANC’s goal is to raise over $10M for charity by 2021/22. Learn more about BANC in their video here.

On October 23rd, BANC’s roster will be Sass Jordan, Ellis Hall (Tower of Power), Jim Carter, Erin Carter, Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot, The Guess Who), Derek Sharp and Will Evankovich (The Guess Who), Pat Steward (Bryan Adams, The Odds) and producer Steve Rokosh. They’re all in it for the charity, the music and the fun.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and BANC will hit the stage at 8 p.m. in the Spectrum Ballroom at Hotel Arts.  There will be some extra surprises at the event donated by some of Jim & Tracey’s friends to help with the fundraising efforts too.

It will take $5M to fund this Chair. This fundraising concert is intended to make a major dent in this target, and while there is no cost to attend, we are asking couples, companies and individuals to make a financial commitment to this Chair commensurate to their financial means.

Please secure your free tickets here and bring along an envelope with a cheque addressed to the University of Calgary with “Pediatric Psychosocial Oncology Chair” noted in the memo line. You can also learn more about the chair – or donate online – by visiting here. All donations are eligible for a tax receipt through the University of Calgary.

Let’s fill a ballroom with people inspired by Jim and Tracey’s vision and endow this chair in short order – for kids today, and for the children of tomorrow.
